Here you will find the musings of a scientist and recently retired professional fermenter and who’s is still trying to work out what living a healthy life looks like… There will be fermentation advice and recipes, other kitchen-based info as I am never out of the kitchen, and articles with a critical eye on the latest “health guru” proclaimations, based on my deconstruction of the scientific literature. It could be fun!

A bit more information about me - I’ve a PhD from many moons ago, in microbial genetics, and my life changed for the better when I was introduced to fermented foods; I have learned their value. I live in Bristol with my long-suffering husband, Minty the cat and a pond-full of fish. I have two grown-up children, one of whom has additional learning needs and autism and is at Foxes Academcy, a specialist college in Minehead, and the other is a professional musician.
